He is not the main star of the hugely popular series. His character got dumped “twice”? in the span of a few episodes, but Ji Hoo aka Kim Hyun Joong isn’t feeling sorry for himself. Actually, he is probably laughing all the way to the bank. Since the day that the first episode of “Boys over Flowers” aired, Kim Hyun Joong has reportedly made close to 3 million US dollars in endorsement contracts. The singer/actor has been inundated with contract offers from cell phone companies, clothing brands, and even chicken restaurants. The other actors in BOF, including the two main characters played by Lee Min Ho and Goo Hye Sun, reportedly have not even made close to half of what Kim Hyun Joong has been making in this past month and a half.
The sometimes quirky actor reiterated on a variety show recently that his original goal as a newbie Kpop star was to make 22 billion won (approx 15 million US dollars) and go retire in a small rural community.

Go HJ! I knew he would be successful even before he was on BOF. He gained a lot of popularity when he was on We Got Married but he especially got really popular when he started acting in BOF. I think he already has a lot of fans before he started acting, but started to accumulate more during the movie because of his hot, sexy, quirky, self! Too bad his quirky personality doesn't show onscreen like it does in We Got Married, but then again it's nice to see his serious side which is very sexy. I'm pretty sure he doesn't have to worry about retiring in a rural community!
